It should be possible to get from the bridge to the platform without going down Ashburnham Road
Eve Robinson-Morley for Mayor of Bedford

Rail

We need a mayor who stands up for rail users. Bedford has had its train services cut. More than half the trains to Leicester have been cut. The 5.30pm fast train from London has been cut. I would fight hard to get them restored. I will fight hard for a good rail link to Milton Keynes and Oxford, too.

Changes need to be made to the station, but the plans to put all the car parking and also park and ride bus stops on the Queen's Park side of the railway were a recipe for trouble. It is a good idea to have a station entrance from Ford End Road/Midland Road, but it shouldn't be the only entrance or car park. A second entrance to the station just about where it is at the moment would help reduce congestion. Putting an entrance to the main car park on Bromham Road, right next to the bridge, would also reduce traffic jams on Ashburnham Road, if there was also a decent sized station car park with an entrance near the Midland Road/Ashburnham Road roundabout.
