Vote for Eve Robinson-Morley as Mayor of Bedford
Eve Robinson-Morley, a 29 year-old mother of two is the Green Party
candidate for Bedford Mayor.
Eve says: "I am proud to be a part of the Green Party, an organisation
that has real values, and thinks both creatively and holistically. The
Green Party has real ethics, and offers real solutions for both today
and tomorrow. I am proud to represent that to the wider community in
Bedford, Kempston and the villages."
All the other six candidates in this election are men. Eve says, "There
are a lot of men for the voters of Bedford to choose from, but I am
proud to represent the Green Party, a party led by a woman, and a party
that gives women a fair chance."
The trainee Methodist lay preacher continues, "I think many people are
tired and disillusioned with what's on offer from the main political
parties, especially since the scandal over MPs expenses and may not
want to reward those parties by voting for them in October. The Green
Party has always been about integrity and I am standing to offer the
people of the borough a decent alternative."
A key campaign theme for the Greens in this election will be fairness.
Candidate Eve Robinson-Morley says, "The Green Party is striving towards
a fairer world, as this is the only way to create a safer world. We
believe that means fairness and equality in all levels of our lives,
fairness at work, fair choices about how we spend our time, fair access
to services and support. Bedford borough have embraced many of these
issues already, and I want to take that even further."
The Green Party goes into these elections in optimistic mood. When the
Green Party contested the Mayoral Election in 2002 it polled 735 votes.
When it contested the Mayoralty again in 2007, its vote more than doubled
to 1538. That Green Party vote across Bedford Borough then more than
doubled again in the European Election earlier this year to 3467.
