Housing, Development and the Villages
We must stop building on greenfield areas. That building risks flooding
and pushes up our house insurance prices. It also deprives us of the
countryside that makes this such a lovely place to live.
To do this I will tackle the number of empty houses. Bringing empty
houses into use is a better alternative than building new ones. Empty
houses can bring down a whole neighbourhood.
I will also oppose proposals for change of use of village pubs and shops:
too many are being closed down because people want to turn the sites
into housing. Our villages need facilities, not even more development
instead of the few facilities they have.
